Our man Chiles came across this video chronicling some of the folks at the Tea Parties in DC this past weekend. Yes, I realize there probably are some people there who have some sense of why they're there or what they're talking about and this is the product of some fine editing but those people aren't funny.
So many gems in here but if I have to pick a favorite I'll go with "You know this how?" I'll leave that open for debate though. Do yourself a favor and set aside the ten minutes. Trust me on this.
So, that was fun. Like you said... it was loaded with fine editing, but it still proves a few things:
1.) When you say something retarded with a southern accent, it sounds extra retarded.
2.) There are people in the world who think Glenn Beck is good at something.
3.) Czars are from Russia.
4.) (My personal favorite part of the video) Fascism is part of socialism.

It humor and depresses me at the same time.

My thoughts exactly. I was laughing but afterward I depressed. People are threatening to arm themselves and fight for/against things that they don't even understand. I know that's always been the way but it's really fucking stupid.

Amazing to think that if a public option health care bill gets passed these fuck brains will benefit the most. They'll probably be the first to sign up too.
Dude dragging around the 20 foot cross- "I just came here to check out the Capitol and the White House. I had no idea this was going on."

The kid with the "Pelosi is a Jezebel" sign reminded me of Chris Griffin.

How do you figure?

I chalked that one up to editing. Had to be said sarcastically.

I'm assuming he means that there's a good chance a lot of these folks don't have jobs. Or they might not be keeping the ones they have very long.

Are "unemployed rednecks" the group that stand to benefit most from the stated goals of a public option? I would think it would be a bit more specfic than that. By all appearances, the only pre-existing conditions these folks have is functional retardation. No amount of health insurance coverage will be able to fix that. The only cure for that is for them not to reproduce. And I think we all know where they stand on that topic.

These people should be the ones aborted.

All editing would be justified in light of that custom padded shoulder brace he installed on the thing.

Public option= option for people who can't afford decent private insurance.
Tea party folks= people mostly likely to work in unskilled, non-union labor market (why? because I'm profiling- that's why). Hence, they're likely at some point to find themselves unemployed and without health care insurance. Additionally, judging by the size of a lot of these people I'd say at least half are on their way to becoming diabetic if they're not already. Diabetes management is really expensive and as well as a pain in the ass to manage.

Whoa, whoa! Way to generalize a whole group, man. Not all of these people are unemployed rednecks. Some appear to be underemployed rednecks too.
Then you've got the 'old and scared' folks, the 'racist, but don't know they're racist' folks, the 'I'll do whatever Rush tells me to do' folks, the 'this country was better when we were all cowboys' folks, the 'this country is the best country in the world but it would be better if nobody had to pay taxes and things happened by magic' folks, and, my favorite, the 'if Jesus was around, he'd tell me to resist the false god that is government and to donate all of my money to Joel Osteen's holy coffers' folks.
BUT, if we're just talking about the unemployed, the public option is the sort of thing that keeps junior from having to quit school to get a job to help pay dad's medical bills after he blows his hands off with a 'Fuck Obama' pipe bomb and United Healthcare decides he's on his own.

I've been to my fair share of left-wing protests, and the average age of them is about one-third what you see here. So, what that tells me is, eventually all these morons will die off and be replaced by younger, far-less-stupid people. Chill, folks -- in 30 years you'll wonder what all the fuss was about.

Not if he had a long-term disability plan. Why can't we subsidize that while we're at it as well?
@Kruger
"Public option= option for people who can't afford decent private insurance."
So it's not to reduce healthcare costs for everyone, insured or not? Or to help boost the economy in the long-term? Fuckin' liar, that Obby.
"People mostly likely to work in unskilled, non-union labor market (why? because I'm profiling- that's why). Hence, they're likely at some point to find themselves unemployed and without health care insurance."
Doesn't mean they wouldn't be able to (or willing to) afford their own private insurance.
"judging by the size of a lot of these people I'd say at least half are on their way to becoming diabetic if they're not already. Diabetes management is really expensive and as well as a pain in the ass to manage."
Just to be techncial - that would mean they would be developing Type 2 diabetes. Which really isn't expensive nor difficult to manage in and of itself. It's generally the complications commonly associated with Type 2 patients that end up being costly.

Most of those left-wing protestors will become right-wing protestors when they get an extra one-third older, move outta their parents' basement, and have to fend for themselves (sorta).

Spoken like a real teabagger. So mandating that the uninsured get affordable health care won't reduce the cost tax payers shoulder for their bills when they get sick? Saving tax payer money won't benefit the economy?

You think the Dollar General offers a long-term disability plan? Or that if he got a tax credit to buy his own, it'd be spent on something other than booze? I thought you lived in the South for a while.

I was actually poking fun at the teabaggers (with their Liar signs). For the record, I am in favor of mandating (at the federal level) that all Americans have some form of health insurance. Where I differ from the Dems is that I don't think a public option is the best way to accomplish that. I don't believe it will control healthcare costs, nor do I believe it will be deficit neutral as advertised. However, I also don't believe all the fear-mongering coming out of the right (death panels, publicly funded abortions, Obama = Castro/Hitler/Joker, etc.) I am willing to bet 99% of those people at that protest don't even know what the "public option" really is (I am also willing to bet about half of the "public option" supporters don't know either). But in general, anything that is 100% federally funded is bound to be excessively wasteful (include the military in that). That's because there's a bottomless well to finance it all. There are a litany of reasons why healthcae costs are high and why insurance premiums are high. Throwing the king of all red tape into the mix at a time when we should be weeding out inefficiencies seems like a terrible idea to me.

I work with a couple of 60-ish year olds who are now convinced that the Obama administration intends to go Eskimo on them and send them off to the ice floes to die. I'm not even joking.
I'm sure it's just a coincidence that Glenn Beck is pretty much their only source of "news".
Scariest thing about that video? All those people are allowed to vote.

What's funniest to me is that while these same old bats are screaming about not wanting the public option (aka government health insurance), they are screaming at the president for wanting to cut back on Medicare (aka government health insurance).

I alternate between laughing out loud at them and gritting my teeth. The complete lack of self-awareness is astounding. They and their family members get piles of government assistance of one sort or another, but they're constantly howling about how they and theirs are getting cheated while the government is evidently handing money out left and right to everybody else.
My boss suffers from a similar condition. He fumes that the government is taxing him out of business. Guess who his biggest customers are? The federal and state governments! He is by no means stupid, but he doesn't seem to be able to see the error in his thinking.
