Can we all just agree that 20-somethings don't make the best decisions and leave it at that? Perhaps we need to stop thinking of people who are essentially still kids themselves as role models for children simply because they have been thus-far successful in professional sports.

Or maybe I'm the asshole for not getting why anyone thinks that an undated photo of a now-rookie NBA player flashing what could be a gang sign in a photo is worthy of Ashton Kutcher's attention.

There are approximately 14 million photos on FB of people throwing up joking gang signs, just like this. him and Antonio Anderson are even throwing up different signs, they're clearly not in a gang. Why does this necessitate such a profuse, groveling apology?

It doesn't. Most people didn't even know it existed, nor did they require such an ankle-grabbing explanation. The only people that cared about it were (a) people that already disliked Derrick Rose for whatever reason, (b) the jackal media, (c) David Stern, and (d) Rose's agent. The latter two (and Rose) care only because it could potentially have financial ramifications.
