Great piece by Wendy Thomas -- sister of AofG Legend Aaron.
One line in there had me laughing out loud.
So, down to business, who is more likely to riot if the outcome does not go their (presumed) way?
Whites? Blacks? Others?
I got a lotta problems with you people!
My big worry is: Will women riot if a man is elected president?
Will the elderly riot if one of their generation is not elected?

"Will angry white people riot if Barack Obama wins the election?"
Personally, I don't think any question of a potential riot is ludicrous. But I agree that it shouldn't single out blacks, especially when you take into consideration the "reasons" behind recent black rioters vs. the "reasons" of recent white rioters. That is, black riots typically are related to serious issues like justice (and the Oakland Raiders), while white riots tend to be about sports losses (and wins), environmental issues, and "peace" activism. Furthermore, the expectations being trumpeted in the media make for a dangerous mix. With Obama leading in all polls for some time now, it's very likely he will win. However, if the polls are inaccurate, as they have been before, what do you think the first charge would be from Democrats? Do I think blacks would riot if Obama somehow lost? Yes, I think you would see some incidents. I think you would also see whites riot as well (i.e. liberals and college students). As for McCain supporters, I think you'll see some incidents when Obama is named the next president of our nation, no question. However, I don't think it will be as bad as it would be if Obama were to lose -- mainly because of the expectations, in conjunction with the close and contested outcomes of the last 2 elections.
"Will women riot if a man is elected president?"
Women have been rioting against men since the beginning of time -- in very subtle, yet effective ways.

I'm not going searching right now, but how is the race shaping up in the Electoral College.
Is there enough separation to tip EC in BO's favor; is there the chance BO could take the popular vote and JM and Repubs stealing another election - ref 1876, 1888 and 2000.

First off, I like Wendi's writing style.
Second, I think there will be great disappointment on both sides, there might even be a few skirmishes and issues, but I believe that we are civilized enough to not have a full blown riot anywhere. Unless Manchester United is playing and Guinness is being served.
Will the elderly riot if one of their generation is not elected?
Nope. The election results won't be known until waaaay after their 6:00pm bedtime.

This might be a hint.

Not all white people are McCain supporters. (See caucuses, Iowa.)
That's one hell of an understatement.
Not all black people are backing Obama. (See Negroes, self-loathing. Just joking.)
This is weird. I keep thinking of Clarence Thomas and Bill Cosby but I get the feeling it goes far beyond that.

"This might be a hint."
Dingo, this is more than likely a hoax. The B "cut" into her face was only a scratch, and it was backwards -- as if done in a mirror. And she refused medical attention. I'm guessing we'll find out shortly that she fabricated the whole thing.

Rich,
Electoral map doesn't look good for McCain right now. He'd have to win all the states currently showing as toss ups and win Pennsylvania, which is polling solid Obama right now. Some polling sites have moved Ohio to leaning Obama, but I still think the Buckeye State is neck and neck.
I think the possibility of Obama winning electoral college and losing popular vote is greater than the reverse. Neither appears likely at this point though.
of course "it wont be over till that big girl from Decatur sings"

re: the woman with the backwards "B," the police spokesperson said this: "We, the police, cannot substantiate this yet," she said. "This is what she told police."
do they usually make such a disclaimer without having a reason to doubt her story? That's a pretty good "B" there. Backwards, yes, but it also seems to not have penetrated the skin too much, but not so little that the B doesn't show up. And it's pretty good penmanship for someone who is hurriedly carving on a girl's face while sitting on her chest outdoors while she is, presumably, struggling. I'm with Klompus on this one - I'm calling BS.

"I'm with Klompus on this one - I'm calling BS."
To me the most damning piece (if true) is that she refused medical attention. She did have two black eyes as well. So why wouldn't you want to see a doctor? Unless you were hiding something....

Regarding Ms. Todd's black eye, looking at the pictures of it online, how come there is zero swelling or puffiness and her eye isn't the least bit red?

Good point. I was thinking the same thing. That doesn't look like a "fresh" black eye.
One other point: nothing was caught by ATM sureveillance. Obviously an assailant could prepare for that, but it's still missing from the equation.

I'm of the "we'll have to wait and see what will happen" camp when it comes to what will happen when the election is done. I wouldn't put it past the angered masses on either side to not start some sort of shit storm, but I certainly hope everyone remains calm regardless.
The chick that got attacked in Texas, though...see, if I had a knife being held up against my face, the last thing I'd do is probably struggle, fearing a possible stab into my head. But maybe that's just me and my perception of what I'd do...since it's never happened to me, I can't say for sure, but I do think I'd be too damned afraid to struggle at that point, considering possible eye damage, or worse, could occur. I'd be screaming my fool head off, though...

You were right Klompus. She's all kinds of crazy.

That's weird, because from what I've noticed the self-mutilating crowd usually votes Democrat.

"Todd told police that while she did not remember how the backward "B" got on her face, she may have done it herself since she was the only one in the car.
According to police, Todd said she thought of Barack Obama when she saw the "B" in her rearview mirror."
This is going to set her back years in therapy.

Shocking. *end sarcasm*

If anybody is still reading comments on this thread, here's a little update on Ms. Ashley from over the weekend:
It seems that prior to becoming a diehard John McCain supporter, she was working on the Ron Paul campaign. Apparently they fired her, though, because they thought she was a nut. Think about that one for a minute.
