Not to go all Bill Simmons on you, but after my first quarter of the NFL in widescreen, high-definition TV, the results are overwhelmingly positive. The clarity is amazing - secondary formations, names and numbers on the back of the jerseys, the intricate detailing on Ricky Williams' Graffix Sideline Special, you can see it all!
Money well spent.
Spending that obscene bonus wisely I see;-)

Killer - Sharp Aquos 32GA5U for me. B&H Photo has the best prices, I would either buy there online or make your local retailer match

I'll second that. Got my HD set in May and I've enjoyed every minute of it. I'll admit I watched part of the Hall of Fame Game also because I wanted to see a football game in HD.
