In case you forgot, the laziest, most corruptible, power-hungry president in the history of these United States is still on vacation and will be for another four weeks. What is he, from France or something?!?
But lo! Here's a woman with a story that could make Spurious George a little uncomfortable between his morning jog and afternoon session of not-giving-a-fuck: Cindy Sheehan. Protest in the 21st century is basically a waste of time, but Sheehan has a hook that resonates with the public and can actually cast unwanted attention on our lazy, corrupt, power-hungry and, now, completely unpopular president: she's the mom of a dead Iraq War pawn who has camped out in Crawford, hoping for an audience with King George.
Make that a second audience. After her son was killed, Sheehan and her husband met with Bush and had a few nice things to say about him. Of course, right-wing buttboy and talking point generator Matt Drudge is already on smear patrol, taking a few of those post-meeting quotes out of context to claim that Sheehan has somehow changed her story between then and now. Because people are NOT ALLOWED TO CHANGE THEIR MINDS!!!! Unfortunately, Drudge fails to mention that, between Sheehan's 2004 meeting with Bush and now, the general public has learned conclusively that the Iraq War was sold to the world on nothing but lies. Well, lies and a sweet, sweet dream of unlimted oil. And, as the Raw Story points out and as is usual for right-wing mudslinging talkng points, Drudge only tells a fraction of the story. Specifically, Sheehan really hasn't changed her tune at all.
But hey, she's just a grieving mother who has already lost someone dear to her, she can easily handle a little slander. Toughen up, Cindy!
Thanks for the heads up Frank. As usual, AofG is one stop shopping for tips on where to head on the political front (particularly with so very few leftover minutes in the day to devote to that), much appreciated.
