I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that 80% of the people that check in here at The Grieve have no idea who the fuck Marion Cotillard is. She's that little minx pictured above and as you can see, she appears to have won an award. That would be the Oscar for best actress. Apparently winning this means that whatever insanity comes out of her mouth will constitute as news for the time being. So be it...
"It was a money-sucker because they were finished, it seems to me, by 1973, and to re-cable all that, to bring up-to-date all the technology and everything, it was a lot more expensive, that work, than destroying them."
Why do I bring this up? Because there is currently a human being who thinks it's cheaper to hire what would seem like hundreds of people to ignore their security duties, others to agree to kill themselves along with thousands of innocent people, waste two enormous towers, 4 passenger jets, and destroy half of the Pentagon than it is to rewire two buildings.
In some sick twist of fate, that person's life has turned out infinitely better than yours.
"In some sick twist of fate, that person's life has turned out infinitely better than yours."
That is definitely up for debate. She may get it whenever she wants it, and may get tons of perks and have tons of money because of her looks, but as a very wise man once said: "There is no cure for dumb."

"There is no cure for dumb."
Could be worse. She could be French, too. That would suck.

Be that as it may, I would have no problem if Vandelay made the same statement about Tony Parker (before he was dumb enough to get hitched).

Denying that she had any kind of "Anglo-Saxon ambition", she said she prefers to "choose roles which suit me".
She is shortly due to fly to Chicago to star alongside Johnny Depp in Public Enemies, a gangster movie expected to be her first big money-spinner.

Hold on now. Let's be fair. She has since said that these remarks were taken out of context. I'm sure that when taken with the context of the entire conversation, "it was a lot more expensive, that work, than destroying them" makes perfect sense.
Especially if the rest of the context involves discussing how high she was.

What's your point?

I don't remember where I read this but the title was:
Why We Hate The French

Oh man. By "Anglo-Saxon ambition" in this context, I'm assuming she means selling out (i.e. artistically) in order to make big bank. "Choose roles which suit me" meaning: avoiding budget driven stereotypical Hollywood blockbuster stuff for more creative, independent type crap.
This juxtaposed with the fact that the next thing she's involved with is a budget driven stereotypical Hollywood blockbuster.
I am citing this as evidence supporting the claim that "There is no cure for dumb."

I got it.

Every now & then I think that my blind hatred for the French is a little over-blown and maybe I should rethink it. Then, something like this comes along and I come to my senses...

"I got it."
So did I.

Let's not forget that bringing down the towers also allowed the criminal organization we call our government to wage an open-ended global military operation and eradicate our civil rights.

Of all the stupid "It wasn't terrorism, it was _______" theories, this is pretty much the dumbest one. Then again, she's really hot, so I don't care.
I wouldn't necessarily say that that gangsters film is a complete sellout. Depp is in it, and he generally has good taste in scripts. Not counting the second two Pirates films. The really important thing though, is that she has big tits and likes to get naked in her films.

I'd still hit it.

Hey Marion. You're French. Maybe you should just shut up and surrender already.
