By now, I'm pretty sure most of us non-Chris Benoit loving cretins have heard of the judge who filed a lawsuit against a dry cleaner seeking $54 million in damages over a lost pair of pants. What I don't think many of us knew, at least I didn't, was that the judge is black and the dry cleaner Korean. I learned this courtesy of opinionjournal.com, which directed me to this blurb from a recent USA Today blog entry:

"[The selection of Michelle Rhee, the new head of Washington's public school system] came as national media attention was focused on a Washington court case in which a black administrative law judge sued the Korean operators of a dry cleaners for $54 million over a lost pair of pants. This legal clash, decided Monday in the cleaners' favor, was symptomatic of a deeply rooted and long-running tension between blacks and Koreans."

Opinionjournal's James Taranto goes on to downplay any race-based explanation and instead goes with the tried, true and simple, plaintiff is just a fucking asshole card, and I gotta say, notwithstanding poignant, brilliance like this (nsfw language), I gotta go with Taranto here.
