So my mom, sister, and wife are all on this guy's bandwagon. They are now acting like complete whack jobs. My mother just bought eight cases of virgin coconut oil. My mom and my sister have weekly appointments to have their colon cleansed. This is not normal behavior.
I'd honestly never heard of this guy until about a month ago when I picked up his new book at the airport and started looking through it. Apparently he's come up with a protocol whereby afterwards you will be able to eat and drink whatever you want and as much as you want, never exercise, and never gain weight again (something about resetting the hypothalamus). I started reading through it the other night and the first thing I noticed was that it read exactly like I was watching an infomercial. The first three paragraphs has nothing of substance. He just keeps repeating the same thing over and over and over.
At this point, I'm thinking this guy is a fraud so I did a little research yesterday and sure enough he was the king of infomercials. Beyond that, he's been banned from doing infomercials and cited for fraud. Since I got DirecTV, I don't think I've been forced to watch an infomercial so it's understandable that I never heard of this cat. Upon further research, it turns out that he's quite the scam artist and his remedies are so expensive and time consuming that any average person wouldn't be able to go through with them. Everyone hates him.
Of course Trudeau has the perfect defense against all of this. His whole shtick is letting people know that the drug and food companies in America are tailored to make you sicker and fatter and this benefits them because they are profit organizations. He's warning you of these conspiracies so it's fully expected that he is going to be condemned for it. That's a fair point, yet I remain skeptical. Maybe it's just because he looks like such a douchebag. I don't know.
Can anyone out there tell me if they know just one person who has had a positive life altering experience after joining the church of Trudeau? He apparently has himself quite the empire so I know someone's got to be buying it.
Um, I just exercise a lot and drink and eat what I want...I don't need a book to tell me that I am doing well.

I really wasn't suggesting that you do.

"...this benefits them because they are profit organizations."
So he's non-profit, then? Fuck this guy. He's a bigger tool than John Edward and Criss Angel combined.
Smack some sense into yo momma. Tell her to stop spending your inheritance on this snake oil.

Sound just like every other scamster out there. "No one wants you to know about this, but exercise and sensible eating aren't necessary! Take this pill/drink/electrocuting belt and you'll be thin and happy!"
Seriously? It's every diet/lifestyle fad I've heard of from the cabbage soup diet to low-carb. Cashing in on everyone wanting a magic solution.
Word on the tool-factor.

The Klompus wisdom at work. This is some snaking assed snake oil.
Exercise. Eat a sensible amount of clean, healthy foods. Anyone that says anything different is a predator.

His contention is that food produced in America, even fruits and vegetables are loaded with chemicals specifically designed to slow your metabolism and make you addicted to food.

I had a conversation with intelligent friends recently about colonics. There is not one shread of objective medical evidence demonstating any long term benefits from regular colonics..people who have gone to medical school and specifically studied gastroenterology state so. Yet, my friends place far more reliance on the anecdotal evidence of lay people who "swear by" colonics and say that they have gotten sick less often since getting them on a regular basis
My point is for what ever reason, we want to believe in the quick fix alternative even when the evidence is against it.
Olive oil is the bomb though...shown to lower blood pressure and cholesterol

I would have been much happier not knowing this man exists.

Sorry.
See, I thought I was living under a rock here.

To be honest, I've never heard of him either.
"Olive oil is the bomb though...shown to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
One of my barbers used to swear up and down about the Olive Oil, however, his love for the stuff had to do with "coatin' yo stomach so the liqua flow right through."

Equally evident? Eating a reasonable amount of it 3 or 4 times a day in addition to exercise will raise said metabolism. That's kinda the way metabolisms work. And why people who eat right and exercise, even in America, tend to not be fat shits.

I heard Bill Cosby say on Larry King that he drinks a cup of the olive oil a day. Straight. And he's never felt better in his life.

Art,
I have some beachfront property in Vegas that your Mom and sis might be interested in....

My colon is doing just fine on it's own, thank you very much. Isn't coconut oil one of the crazy bad oils?
Posted by: daveNYC | May 03, 2007 at 07:36 AM
Al Gore just called me and said that Las Vegas will actually be beachfront property by 2012.

Lex Luthor had a plan exactly like that didn't he??

They work...for about half a second. Then there's this thing called 'being human' that gets in the way, and the next time you take a shit it's like your just wasted 100 bucks(or whatever it costs). It's a fraud.

My boss read the book. She said that most of the book is garbage, but she did do the virgin coconut oil, yerba mate tea and salsa part.
She has lost two pants sized and has lost her upper ab roll. She looks great and her skin is glowing. The thing is, the tea is a well known appetite suppresant - Trudeau did not discover that himself. Other diets suggest using salsas or other spicy condiments to spike your temperature and boost metabolim, Trudeau did not come up with that, and the Virgin Coconut oil has been used in tropical countries for ages. It is considered a "healthy fat" (like olive oil). It is super high in antioxidants. You can buy it at any self-respecting health food store. Kevin Trudeau did not come up with that.
It seems all he came up with is taking elements from other cultures and putting them together in a new marketing concept.
It is too bad this diet is associated with him - it could have some potential but he really is slimy and a scammer. He had this "show" on for a few years (late night "infomercial" show) where it appeared he was holding very serious, very revolutionary interviews, discovering "secrets"...each person he interviewd was selling something.

The guy just lies. Doctors try to minimize the drugs that their patients take, and usually bend over backwards to get them the cheapest and most effective drugs possible. As a matter of fact, most physicians use conservative management for their patients before starting any drugs at all.
If you really look at all of the "natural" cures, they are in fact "drugs" as well and are a multi-billion dollar industry with no regulation whatsoever. As a matter of fact, physicians treat garlic, green tea, st. john's wart, echinacea, fish oil, Vitamin E, and most of the "natural" substances as "drugs" on a preop evaluation. Many of these increase the bleeding time to some extent and can lead to excessive bleeding during surgery.

I found all of these comments quite negative. Perhaps one should take a close look at the system who accepts payoffs for meds that kill people, now not all meds kill but lets face it several do and the FDA still approves them, now who truly is the fraud.WAKEUP!!!! what wrong with everyone you are destroying a man for suggesting natural products that some infact do work, but DO NOT KILL!!!!! why is everyone so negative how dare you put someone down who is putting out some interesting concepts that are not dangerous and may work.... coconut oil is only 10 $ , apple cider vinegar is only 3 $ so if they make a difference fantastic, but NO ONE DIES FROM IT!!!!!! I am so angry when I read such negativity , read up on all of the thousands and thousands of people dying from meds and the FDA knew but couldn,t allow their pharamaceutical buddies to suffer financial losses...speaking of infomercials...drug companies are advertising daily, and listen carefully to the side affects......jb
Posted by: jb | September 13, 2007 at 08:56 AM
I agree with JB. Most prescription drugs have a long list of side effects that normally cause additional problems for many of your vital organs, such as your liver and kidneys. Most times the side effects out weigh the drug benefits.
Plants and herbs were the beginning natural forms of any Countries medicine.
I don't think Kevin Tredeau claims to have invented the cures; he researched them and put them in book form.

I try an approach all aspects of what information I read or hear in an unbiased way...and trudeau knows his stuff. Why does he come off as a tool? well...he knows he needs to get his information out somehow..so he writes a book and has an infomercial. why? to get the information out. HOW ELSE? the vast public is more prone to believe what they hear based on what they see on t.v and pretty shiny glossy books at borders. YOU CANNOT deny his views on how our primitive being is 'vibrant health' when homeostasis is achieved. and to comment further... just because he wrote the book, doesn't meant he discovered these cures HIMSELF. if you've ever written a paper..per say..in your probable high school education...a persuasive paper perhaps..you need sources...be it opinion, study, whatever....
anyways, the fact that skeptics are out there questioning everything is GREAT. but when skeptics are so dense to know the difference between legitimacy and accuracy...that's another topic.
kudos to kevin trudeau for 1. marketing ability ( ppl are buying it and know his name ) 2. getting the truth out.
to get the truth out, you have to use public friendly gimmicks...if coming off a tool bag with a combover works...HEY ALL THE POWER
