And don't get me started on the Chocolate city thing. If any white person got up and referred to New Orleans as a "chocolate" city, black folks would be protesting in the streets for their resignation from wherever. Just ignorance.

Yeah, and what would be even more comparable is if the mayor of Des Moines (sorry, Edzipper, and I'm sure the white Iowa thing is largely stereotype) declared that it will be known as a 'vanilla city'. There would be some serious outrage if that occured.

I used to like Nagin. The chocolate city thing wasn't as bad as the God's will thing. Shut the f up about that, and if it's really true, San Francisco better watch the hell out.

Why are we going to lengths to make this a racist thing? It was a strange choice of words, sure. But unless you're looking to be offended, Nagin didn't intend it to mean "blacks only." Get over it, people. Now I'm not saying there wouldn't be outrage if a white mayor used the phrase "vanilla city." Of course there would. But we need to stop the demonstrations (on both sides) every time we hear a word that can be construed to have racial connotations. As a society we appear afraid to open an honest discussion on race. I think that's unhealthy. We have too much pussification. I say put it all out on the table. Now excuse me while I step down off my Ivory soap box (no offense).
