A few quick thoughts that popped into my head as I "watched" the awards while doing about six other things:
* Queen Latifah is looking like she's on one of her upswings. Anybody got Kool Aid?
* Ricky Martin still gets invited to these things? I know I'm outta of the loop and all, but WTF?
* Ahhh, Marc and J-Lo are doing something together. Can we all hope that it bombs worse then Gigli? Is there anyway to guarantee this? It really would make my evening.
* Alright, negativity to the side for a second. I absolutely love Alicia Keyes. She just seems like such a truly positive and radiant spirit. Plus she is legitimately talented. I soooooo feel her. Seems like a wonderful, super-real girl from New York that made it big. Like she has an absolute heart of gold. That she loves life. Loves her family. Loves her friends. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I Really Dig Her Shit.
* Jamie Foxx. Alright, let's all agree now, the man is supremely talented. He deserves super-duper mega-props for what he's done with his career. Standing friggin' ovation from me. That's a positive ass brutha right there. Hats off.
* J-Lo & Marc's performace: Now she's spanish? What a fucking phony.
* Shocker of the night: Matthew McConaughey is not visibly bombed. Huge upset. I'm actually very disappointed.
* Awkward moment of the night: La vida loca screaming "Yes!" when the envelope was opened. Totally corned out and weird. Loser.
* Line of the night: "I guess we'll never know." -- Kanye West. And damn, that sure was a helluva performance. Incredibly well done. Applause.
* Stevie Wonder out of nowhere, "You know what, let me show these cats how to really sing." Outstanding.
* Steven Tyler during the group anthem. Watching him sing and shake the carambas just about made me pee myself. High comedy.
* And finally, can we all agree that if Lance Armstrong is in fact doping (which he probably is), Sheryl Crow is using his shit? Jesus.
Any thoughts? Hit us up in the comments ...
I just don't get Kanye.

Who's Green Day? Kidding. Didn't see 'em. Hit us up.

Green Day was awesome. I loved the comments that Tarantino made. SOmething along the lines of " They had a concept album, the novel concept being that all the songs were good"

How about Stevie with the Enveolope? Awesome, in that he was laughing at himself, coupled with the fact that he was holding it upside down. I wonder if he knew that.

How about Norah Jones running her bastarder than thou mouth off so long that they started playing the "GTF off the stage" music before Ray Charles' long-time friend and manager Joe Adams could say anything.
I'm just about sicka her.
Classy move by the director to kill the music for Adams to say briefly thank you, though.

-that anthem sucked from the very beginning. Either too many different styles trying to comnbine, or just too many people that sucked. Did they practice even once?
-J-Lo's spanish singing sounded about as good as mine. I wonder how often she even speaks.
-Queen Latifah is evidence number one why "Lose weight first, THEN see if you need a breast reduction" should always be the rule.
-Sheryl Crow's stomach was both impressive and scary. If her body fat percentage drops one more point, she'll never be able to bear children.
-Alicia Keys- it never hurts to be fine as hell, too.

one more thing...
was it just me, or was anyone else waiting for Queen Latifah to randomly bellow "Gather Round the Good Stuff!"
Posted by: aaron | February 14, 2005 at 12:32 PM
LOL at gather round the good stuff...By the way, I do not think the Genius Loves Company was deserving of ablum of the year...i thought that these duets were among the most uninspired performances of Ray Charles' illustrious career...That is just my thought...Now his Soundtrack Album..THAT should have got album of hte year
